The guys over at Secret in the Dirt managed to get a hold of some film from the personal collection of Jimmy Demaret. Taken at the 1953 Ryder Cup in Wentworth, the video is remarkable in in quality (exceptionally good for the time and technology) as well as for the content. The three part series covers a warm up on range, short game work, and a practice round. The golfers in the group include Jack Burke Jr., Cary Middlecoff, Lloyd Mangrum, Jim Turnesa, Ted Kroll, and Sam Snead. In case you’ve never heard of these guys – Middlecoff and Mangrum have some 78 PGA wins between them alone and we all know how good Snead was for so long. There are some great swing shots from a variety of angles and it’s worth it just to see the body language, pace, and cadence of the golfers in the leadup to the event. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: You may want to mute the music unless you’re big into acoustic guitar loops.
